HYSA Weapons Policy

The Helena Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) is a private entity that leases and is in control of the Siebel Soccer Complex. Montana Code Annotated Section 45-8-356(6) allows certain entities to prohibit or restrict the carrying of concealed weapons “on private property where the owner of the property or the person who possesses or is in control of the property, including a tenant or lessee of the property, expressly prohibits firearms.” As a private entity, HYSA can also prohibit other weapons on its leased property. HYSA has adopted the following policy regarding possession of weapons at the Siebel Soccer Complex.

1. No weapons of any kind are permitted at the Siebel Soccer Complex. A weapon is defined in Montana Code Annotated Section 45-2-101(79) as “an instrument, article, or substance that, regardless of its primary function, is readily capable of being used to produce death or serious bodily injury.” This includes but is not limited to knives or blades of four inches or longer, firearms, destructive devices, and explosives.

2. If the HYSA Executive Director or other HYSA representative observes a person in possession of a weapon at the Siebel Soccer Complex, the HYSA Executive Director or other HYSA representative shall immediately request that the person remove the weapon from the Siebel Soccer Complex. If the person does not comply peacefully, the HYSA Executive Director or other HYSA representative shall immediately contact local law enforcement and ask for assistance.
