2009 Boys Arsenal Academy Competes at Tamarack Fall Classic
Third Place Finish
The Arsenal Academy 2009 Boys team, coached by Amy Hurley and Chris Daly, competed in the Tamarack Fall Classic Tournament over the September 21st weekend in Kalispell and finished in 3rd place.
After a tough first loss to Flathead Force Green, the Academy Boys rallied and beat FC Missoula 2-0. Lane Eckerson started off the scoring with a well-placed free kick and Joel Melton finalized the victory with the second goal.
The Academy Boys fell to Fernie United in a back and forth game with our first goal by Aiden Dalton followed by a beautiful volley by Braeden Kaufman. Our defense was led by goalie Jameson Daly with 22 saves in the tournament and outstanding defensive play by Bennett Ruffner, Holden Boag and Aiden Atwood.
The final game of the tournament found the Academy boys in a 2-2 tie with Flathead Rapids Black with both goals scored by Finn Hurley. Trey Frydenlund and Sam Dusko led the midfield with creativity and great distribution.
This Academy Boys team has shown tremendous improvement the first half of the season with hard work, focus, and determination demonstrated by all players.
