If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a referee, here’s an overview of the benefits and steps to get started.

Benefits of Being a Referee:

How to Become a Referee:

  1. Registration: Begin your journey by registering as a prospective referee.

  2. Online Course: Complete the required online training module.

  3. Pick a Clinic: Select a local clinic that suits your schedule.

  4. Attend a Clinic: Participate in the in-person training session.

The United States Soccer Federation's Grassroots Referee course consists of an online portion followed by an in-person field session. All online training must be completed before registering for a field session. Field sessions are scheduled based on organizational demand and the number of completed online course registrations.

New referee certification sessions are held locally in the spring in conjunction with web-based testing, with licensing managed through the United States Soccer Federation.
